About this experience

Most visitors pass through Malé on the way to somewhere else. This tour is the case for stopping: five hours across three very different islands that together tell the story of the capital region.

You start in Malé itself — mosques, markets, the fish market, the harbour and the streets in between. Then the ferry to Vilimalé, where there are no cars to speak of, a public beach, and views back across the water to the city skyline.

After lunch in Malé or Hulhumalé, depending on the route that day, you cross the bridge to Hulhumalé: Phase 1 with its beachfront, parks and planned neighbourhoods, then Phase 2, built on newly reclaimed land and still filling in. Past, present and future, in that order.

Highlights

  • Malé landmarks, mosques, markets, waterfronts and local streets
  • Vilimalé neighbourhoods, public beach, Malé skyline views and conservation stories
  • Included lunch in Malé or Hulhumalé
  • Hulhumalé Phase 1 beachfront, public spaces and modern neighbourhoods
  • Hulhumalé Phase 2 reclaimed land, newer residential districts and coastline
  • Local transport experience including ferry and your chosen road transport
